I was amazed at the difference the surgery made in people’s lives, not just physically but socially, professionally and emotionally as well. It is like no other field in surgery because it allows the surgeon to have a lifelong relationship with the patient. It is the most gratifying field because it gives me the chance to really make a difference in someone’s life. Because of that, I absolutely love what I do and have dedicated myself to this field.

What is Morbid Obesity?
Many people are overweight but morbid obesity is clinically severe obesity at which point serious medical conditions occur as a direct result of the obesity. According to the National Institute of Health, Morbid Obesity is defined as:
- 100 lbs or more above ideal body weight or
- Body Mass Index (BMI) equal to or greater than 40 or
- BMI of 35 with an associated medical condition related to weight such as hypertension or diabetes.
