General Surgery

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on the abdominal intestines and the torso. The types of surgeries include, but are not limited to, the stomach, esophagus, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, skin, breast and hernias.

We, at North Jersey Laparoscopic Associates, pride ourselves on using the most up-to-date surgical procedures - referred to as minimally invasive techniques. These types of surgeries are therefore often called Minimally Invasive Surgeries (MIS).

What is MIS?

Minimally Invasive Surgery, also known as MIS or advanced laparoscopic surgery is a modern surgical technique in which operations in the abdomen are performed through small incisions (usually 0.5 - 1.5 cm) using one video camera and small instruments. All patients requiring an intra-abdominal surgery should be considered for a laparoscopic surgery due to the signifi cant improvement in outcome both short and long-term.
