Medically Supervised Food Elimination Diet

The Food Elimination Diet is a dietary program designed to clear the body of foods and chemicals to which you may be allergic or sensitive. The main rationale behind the diet is that these modifications allow your body's detoxification machinery, which may be overburdened or compromised, to recover and begin to function efficiently again. The dietary changes help the body eliminate or clear various toxins that may have accumulated due to environmental exposure, foods, beverages, drugs, alcohol or cigarette smoking. It also helps reduce inflammation throughout your body. This is called an Elimination Diet because you are removing certain foods from your diet.

During a period of two to three weeks, we will closely monitor and have you eliminate the foods from your diet that are most likely the culprits of sensitivity symptoms. If your symptoms improve during the three-week period, you will carefully add the foods back into your diet one at a time to see which foods may be triggering symptoms. You will be able to eat a wide variety of foods and we will try not to restrict your caloric intake. If you find no improvement within three weeks either you do not have any food allergies, or you may have food allergies but there is yet another factor complicating the picture. There are no magical answers here; this is a journey of self-exploration and discovery that we will take you on to learn about your body. In our experience, we have found this process to be generally well tolerated and extremely beneficial. In fact, it is one of the best clinical tools we use.

There is really no "typical" or "normal" response. A person's initial response to any new diet is highly variable, and this diet is no exception. This can be attributed to physiological, mental and biochemical differences among individuals; the degree of exposure to, and type of "toxin"; and other lifestyle factors. Most often, individuals on the elimination diet report increased energy, mental alertness, a decrease in muscle or joint pain and a general sense of improved well-being. However, some people report some initial reactions to the diet, especially in the first week, as their bodies adjust to a different dietary program. Symptoms you may experience in the first week or so can include changes in sleep patterns, lightheadedness, headaches, joint or muscle stiffness and changes in gastrointestinal function. Such symptoms rarely last for more than a few days, but it's worth it in the end!

Medically Supervised HCG Diet

The HCG diet, is a rapid weight loss program that helps men and women reach and maintain their goal weight through a rapid medically supervised program. This is a strict, no cheat diet that can result in anywhere from 1/2 to 1 pound per day for women, or 1 to 2 pounds per day for men, however, you must follow the instructions to be truly successful. Despite the restrictions, the majority of people find the program quite comfortable and easy to stick to.

What is HCG?

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, or HCG, is a natural hormone produced by the placenta of pregnant women. One of the purposes of HCG during pregnancy is to ensure the growing baby has a constant and steady supply of energy and nutrients by mobilizing the reserves stored in the mothers' fat tissue. The HCG protocol was developed in the 1950s by Dr. A.T.W. Simeons, a British endocrinologist working at the Salvador Mundi International Hospital in Rome, Italy. He noted that pregnant women on a calorie-deprived diet still had healthy babies. He theorized that the HCG was re-programming the hypothalamus gland (the part of the brain that deals with hormones) to utilize fat instead of protein (muscle) to protect the developing fetus. Dr. Simeons realized men and non-pregnant women given regularly timed small doses of HCG combined with a calorie deprived diet would have the same effect, mobilizing approximately 1500-4000 calories worth of stored energy, or around 1/2-2 pounds of body fat, making it available for use by the body.

Benefits of HCG

The HCG diet protocol works by telling the hypothalamus to release your stored body fat. This action is triggered by a low-calorie diet. You will eat 500 calories a day on the HCG diet (referred to as "VLCD", or Very Low-Calorie Diet) utilizing very specific food. As noted above, an additional 1500-4000 calories/day will be released from your abnormal fat stores.

Despite the low-calorie diet, with HCG your body has a constant and steady supply of energy. This keeps you from feeling hungry, tired, weak or irritable. HCG also improves your metabolism. If you try to do this without HCG, your body thinks you are starving and your metabolism slows down. You become hungry all the time, and your body begins to store any calories it can get because it does not know when the next meal will come or if it will be big enough to satisfy its nutritional requirements. In addition, when you are done dieting without HCG, your body stays in that defensive mode of increased hunger, decreased metabolism, and storing all the calories it can until you have gained back all the weight you have lost and sometimes more. It does this as a precaution in the event that you should ever "starve" again, or in other words, go on another diet.

This does not happen with HCG. On our HCG Diet program, a natural hormone is telling your body to mobilize and utilize its own reserves, filling the bloodstream with a constant supply of energy and nutrients. This enables you to diet safely and comfortably lose an average of 1/2 to 1 pounds or more every day until you reach a healthy weight.

We use only real injectable HCG produced here in the US that can only be obtained through a prescription.

Exclusionary Conditions

Although this program can provide a rewarding benefit to most people in their weight loss efforts, it is not for everyone. If you have any of the following conditions, you will not be a candidate for the HCG Diet:

  • Prior allergy Hormone-relatedrelated cancer (such as Breast, Prostate, Ovarian or Testicular Cancer)

Medically Supervised Keto Diet

With obesity rates nearing 35% in the U.S., there has been an increased focus on low-carb dieting for rapid weight loss. Limiting certain types of foods (carbs in particular) has been linked to lower rates of obesity, inflammation, and diabetes. While concentrating on specific dietary limitations like reducing fat or regulating carbohydrates can be useful, a comprehensive approach has been shown to be most effective when it comes to fat loss. The keto diet is a low carbohydrate, high protein diet that utilizes low-glycemic foods in order to stimulate to ketosis (a fat-burning process that occurs when carbohydrates are no longer stored for energy). The ketogenic diet normally lends itself to high levels of fat; moderate amounts of protein; and low amounts of carbohydrates. Dieters are urged to keep their daily carb intake to a low 20-50 grams. Lowering the intake of carbohydrates consumed is ideal while consuming higher levels of proteins and fats are encouraged.

Generally, a ketogenic diet is most effective when supervised by a doctor because keto-adaptation, or the process of adjusting to the dietary limitations, takes time and diligent monitoring of any potential nutritional deficiencies. Our doctor-supervised ketogenic diet is a program in which patients receive 1-2 weeks to keto-adapt and are given supplements like vitamin B12 which can help prevent negative symptoms like headaches and muscle cramping. As a result, the diet becomes more balanced and existing health needs are addressed in order to boost weight loss.
